Wales Feed Prices
Published 8 October 2008
Latest data from Wales shows that October feed prices fell when compared to September. Market commentators suggest that the global economic downturn is having an impact on commodity prices, this has seen oil prices fall and also impacted on feed prices.
As wheat prices have fallen this has had an impact on Soyahulls, Citrus and Palm Kernel. Soyahulls have fallen by 12.6% (£17/tonne) to £118/tonne, while Citrus has fallen 14.2% to £133/tonne and Palm Kernel has fallen £15/tonne to £108/tonne. Prices are now over 23% lower than this time last year.
Market commentators suggest that the Soya market is extremely volatile, despite reports of a disappointing harvest in the US, the price of Hipro Soya actually fell £29/tonne (11.5%) between September and October. However, it still remains £18/tonne above this time last year.
The table below shows a selection of feed prices for straight feeds. The prices reflect ex-store bulk load prices.
