Defra are now producing data for the calendar year rather than for the milk year. Latest expenditure figures from the Defra Family Food Survey show that average expenditure on liquid milk has stabilised at £0.90 per person per week. This is also 5.9% less than the figure given 10 years previously, when expenditure averaged at £0.96 per person per week. Looking at liquid milk in detail shows that expenditure on semi skimmed milk has decreased while whole milk expenditure increased and skimmed milk expenditure stabilised, when compared to the 2005/06 data.
