First Milk Launches Cumbrian Cheddar
Published November 16 2007
First MIlk has this week announced the launch of its Cumbrian Cheddar range. The range will be produced at the co-operatives Lake District creamery in Aspatria and marketed by 'The Lake District Cheese Company' (a company owned by First Milks' cheese subsidiary). The creamery is supplied by 250 farmers and was bought from Dairy Crest in September last year. The range will be based on three core products: Mature Cumbrian Cheddar, Extra Mature Cumbrian Cheddar and The Cumbrian Smokey.
The new products will be first sold in specialised outlets throughout Cumbria and the north west in order to build up consumer association with the provenance of the new cheddar which is to include pictures of farmers who supply the creamery on the packaging.
