First Milk make more announcements
Published 28 June 2007
First Milk has made additional announcements this week which should provide further benefits to members. The first announcement has been the 0.5ppl increase from 1 July on its compositional & liquid contracts. In addition, the Highlands & Islands contract will increase by 1.75ppl from 1 July. These increases have been attributed to anticipated increases in cheese prices from customers in the next few months. First Milk has also announced that it is to suspend its policy of withholding payment to members who go over-quota for the remainder of the current quota year. This is similar to the announcement made by Milk Link last week.
This price increase means that the First Milk compositional contract would pay a July annual average price of 17.79 ppl according to the MDC milk price league table.
First Milk also announced yesterday that it has been awarded 50% of The Co-operative's own label cheese business - equivalent to 3,000 tonnes per annum. The supermarket has also agreed to list First Milk's 'Scottish Pride' brand in 400 stores across Scotland.
