DFB to Keep Organic Premium
Published 2 October 2007
DFB have announced it is to increase its conventional milk price by 2.45ppl, its Channel Islands milk will receive an increase of 2.15ppl and Organic milk will see an increase of 4.25ppl, to keep its premium at around 10ppl above the price paid for conventional liquid milk. These increases will see a DFB standard litre before seasonality, reach 23.5ppl for conventional milk and 33.45ppl for organic milk. The increase is said to be due to DFB’s commitment to pass back the increased returns that are being received from the marketplace.
Along with this DFB announced it is to reduce the penalties imposed for somatic cell count between 251-300 for its conventional and Channel Islands milk, due to the marketplace being less sensitive as a result of shorting of milk supplies.
