DFB makes futher price increase
Published 28 June 2007
Dairy Farmers of Britain has announced that it is to make further price increases from 1 July. Its conventional milk price and organic milk price will increase by 0.25ppl - both increases will be a flat rate adjustment. In addition, the Channel Island contract will increase by 0.5ppl. The price increase is reported to have been on account of improvements in the co-op's trading position. This increase would mean for example that the DFB conventional liquid contract would pay an annual average price of 17.46ppl from July according to the MDC milk price league table.
DFB also announced this week that it had pulled out of tendering negotiations for 'The Co-operative' own label cheese contract under which it had been supplying cheese since 2004. First Milk has been awarded half of this contract amounting to 3,000 tonnes per annum.
