The following information illustrates the trend of milk deliveries in the UK and GB on a daily basis. Figures are collated from many of the larger UK dairy companies and are then scaled to reflect 100% of deliveries.

Latest information shows that for the two weeks ending 28/06/08, UK daily deliveries averaged 37.1m litres/day. Comparing this to a three-year average shows a fall of approximately 1.4m litres/day which is equivalent to a 3.6% fall.

Although deliveries in 2008/09 have been down on the previous milk year, the difference between the two milk years is narrowing. In the first two weeks of June, 2008/09 deliveries were on average 1.3m litres down on the previous year. However, the two weeks ending 28/06/08 show that deliveries were on average 0.5m litres less than the previous year.

Daily delivery figures for GB show that for the two weeks ending 28/06/08, deliveries averaged 31.0m litres/day. Compared to a three-year average, deliveries were down by 1.3m litres/day - equivalent to 4%.

As with UK deliveries, the difference between deliveries for 2008/09 and the previous year is narrowing. Deliveries in the first two weeks of June were 0.8m litres less than the previous year with the difference falling to 0.2m litres in the last two weeks. In addition, latest figures suggest that deliveries may have gone above levels seen at the same time last year. This is likely to be on account of more favourable weather conditions this summer compared to last. In 2007, GB experienced the wettest May-July since records began.
