Latest data for Kingshay Regional Production shows that the average yield per cow tended to increase between March and April, with the exception of the Midlands where the average yield per cow fell 0.1litres/day. The South West saw the largest increase of 1.0litres/day between March and April, to average at 26.2litres/day.
Butterfat levels across all regions fell between March and April, with the exception of the North, Scotland and Northern Ireland where average butterfat levels increased one percentage point to 4.13%. The largest fall in average butterfat levels was seen in the South West which fell eight percentage points to 4.12% for April, however the South West did have the highest average butterfat level in March of 4.20%.
There was a general downward trend in milk prices between March and April. The Midlands milk price has fallen 0.31ppl (1.2%) to average 25.85ppl, this is the highest regional price for April. Wales average milk price has now fallen 1.1% - 0.27ppl between March and April to 24.82ppl, the lowest regional milk price.
