- Between May and June, the average price of straights fell very slightly.
- Over the same period, the price of protein concentrates and dairy rations remained at the same level.
- The price of Argentine soyameal fell by £9/tonne between May and June to average at £299/tonne. However, this still remains above the April average which stood at £297/tonne.
Dairy rations and protein concentrates have remained stable between May and June. Average prices for both dairy rations and protein concentrates are now slightly lower than those seen a year ago. On average, prices for dairy rations and protein concentrates have fallen by £15/tonne between June 2008 and June 2009.
The average price of intensive energy feed now stands at £195/tonne, this is 7.1% (£15/tonne) lower than the average price in June 2008 which stood at £210/tonne. Over the same period medium protein concentrates have fallen from an average of £259/tonne in June 2008 to £244/tonne in June 2009.
In the straights market soya still remains above the average price in June 2008, while feed wheat is now 17.9% below that seen in June 2008. Argentine soyameal fell by £9/tonne (2.9%) between May and June to average at £299/tonne, despite this fall it still remains 3.8% (£11/tonne) above the level seen in June 2008. It is a similar story for hipro soya which has fallen £7/tonne between May and June to £333/tonne, however, this is still £30/tonne (9.9%) above the level seen in June 2008.
Rapemeal fell £6/tonne between May and June to an average of £172/tonne, it is now over £20/tonne lower than in June 2008 when the average price stood at £194/tonne. Maize gluten has seen a similar fall between June 2008 and June 2009, falling £23/tonne (13.2%) to an average price of £151/tonne in June 2009. Feed wheat has remained at an average of £128/tonne between May and June, and is now over 15% lower than June 2008 when the average price stood at £156/tonne.
